Hello

going to order one of the Q6600's now, NOT the G0 stepping i might add.
I currently have a freezer 7 pro, with no thermal paste.

i will buy some nice thermal paste, but atm my E6600 at 3.5ghz @ stock volts is idle at 39/40 and under load roughly 55-60.

do you think i should get a new cooler if i only overclock the Q6600 to 3ghz?

Thanks

I think your load temps will go up more than that tbh from what i have seen. But dont worry you should be ok with that cooler. :D

hmmm....2 completely different opinions there lol

ive always known the Q's are hot bas***ds, so i was prepared, but i do a lot of rendering, so the massive clocks arent too necessary compared to gaming.

As long as your case cooling is decent, and you don't have to overvolt too much, the Freezer 7 Pro will be fine, don't waste £30+ of your money on something new. My QX6700 runs perfectly fine at 3 GHz with this, full load 24/7
