Will I need a different CPU

I'm looking to build a PC that's going to primarily be for gaming however I'd also like to be able to create capture and edit gameplay an start creating vids just for fun.

The builds I've been looking at are all overclockerd i5s and 290 gpus would I need a better processor like an i7? Also would 8gb of ram still be enough the budget ideally won't be over a grand

If its for fun then a i5 with 8gb would be fine, but we might be able to fit a i7 in!

Just a good rig with an SSD and 2x cache hdd in raid would be optimal.. ofc just an ssd an extra hdd will do. 290s are solid but if your gaming 1080p the 280x gets above 90fps and -20fps for recording you'll still have above 60fps in most games on ultra (hello bf4)

You would only be looking at a few minutes difference i.e. 10mins rather than hrs

if your going xfire then an i7 is needed imo

if not then the i5 is fine

What is xfire ? Is it when you have more than one gpu?

Yes

Crossfire = 2 AMD cards
SLI = 2 Nvidia cards
