Ok, I'm building a £2k Custom build. I won't go over the specs but basically it will produce a lot of heat.
I'm having 4 case fans, 1 rear 28CFM out-take, 2 side 14CFM out-take and 1 front 28CFM intake.
Also my PSU has a thermistor controlled 120mm Fan (out-take).

Now my HDs, 250GB SATAII Hitachi 7200RPM and 74GB WD Raptor 10k RPM will be at the bottom near the front intake fan.

Just wanted to know how hot do these drives get, especially the raptor?

I was think of getting this Zalman ZM-2HC2 for the raptor. Do you think I will need one for the hitachi too?

Thanks in advance guys. :)

you should be fine fella, hdd's are designed to work within certain levels.

Now i couldnt tell you what these levels are but sounds like you have plenty of cooling in the rig, so wouldnt worry to much about it.

I am running 2 x 250gb maxtor 10's and 1 120gb maxtor in a shuttle with no issues.

Are you sure guys? They are going to be stacked on each other in bays. I'll take your words for it though.
Thanks.

Monitor their temp through speedfan, modern hdd have individual temp guages. Mine are at 41c and thats fine afiak. Bigger hdd produce more heat? never thought of that
