Will I need to upgrade my PSU for the 780ti?

from evga site

Requirements

Minimum of a 600 Watt power supply.
(Minimum recommended power supply with +12 Volt current rating of 42 Amps.)
An available 6-pin PCI-E power connector and an available 8 pin PCI-E power connector
Total Power Draw : 250 Watts

Meant to ask the rest of the spec and what Res you will be playing at too as that will help understand the total system power draw.

850W is overkill for your system.

Check out Overclock 3D's youtube video on PSU requirements. He ran a 780TI with a core i5 with a 450W power supply.

To be in the very safe, you would need a 600W PSU, but make sure you check the amps on the 12V rail. However, given you have a decent quality 550W PSU, I wouldn't rush to buy a PSU right now. You can get the card and run a watt-meter, to see exactly how much you're using while gaming or whatever you do. If you're running close to 85% load, you need a bigger PSU :)

TinyTomLogan from OC3D did a great video and it showed that in many cases today a 500w is ample for the setup you have, The reason they say 600w+ is because it's easy to just spit out a high number.

It's worth a watch to educate ones self about PSU's.

I see all too often people screaming "800w" for a single card setup when 550w is perfectly fine for a setup like yours.

Your current PSU has the following 12v Amp 45: http://www.corsair.com/en/enthusias...tt-high-performance-modular-power-supply.html

Nvidia State min 600w - http://www.geforce.co.uk/hardware/desktop-gpus/geforce-gtx-780-ti/specifications

Min recommended Amps are 42. So if your currnet psu has 45amps on 12v rail thats extremely close and would recommend an upgrade. You don't need to go crazy no but it's better to buy a decent psu and be safe rather than sorry as it's probably the most important part of your pc!

Btw it's not wattage thats only important its amps per rail etc!!! Just saying :)

Decent PSU from a good company and would leave you with headroom for sure! Just think it's better to be safe rather than sorry.

I have the same 750 watt corsair psu running with my 780 it will be fine with plenty of headroom for small upgrades, very quiet as well as you won't be pushing the psu with one card

i'd go for this over the corsair http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CA-013-SF&groupid=701&catid=123&subcat=2057 also the next one up is on offer which is £20 more.

always go for a psu which is at least the recommended for warranty purposes.

and just to put it into perspective with my single 780Ti classified i bought a seasonic 1000w plat (regarded as one of the best) to its knees, kept triggering OCP!! never had a problem since i upgraded but i am able to push voltages more than you will be able too.
