Currently driving a MINI Cooper 04, currently getting 32MPG with mainly urban driving around town and country roads (with odd motorway now and then).

I am switching to a Cooper S in the coming weeks (06) and I know these average around 27-30mpg. Question is, will I notice much difference in MPG? Maybe a dumb question but I am not clued up that much when comes to MPG.

My instinct says that obviously they is or will be a difference depending on how I drive it, but the difference from Cooper to the S won't be much? Not really worried, just more of an observation :)

I find it doesn't make a much of difference how I drive mine so you might as well make as much of the performance you'll get from it. I get around 260 miles from a tank of V-Power from a mixture of driving with a 17% pulley.

That's not that bad tbh, I have been getting ripped off from my Cooper for last year or so, trip computer says approx 320 for a full take but I do more like 250 to a full tank and thats steady driving. Never really been bothered to get it sorted as been looking for an S for a while.

Is your 260 miles actually recorded or just what your computer says once filled up?

The computer says it'll be well over 300 after I fill up but I reset the trip every fill up and I get around 250 to 260 per fill up.

I'm on the 16" X-Lite alloys so bigger ones might make more of an impact - I swapped for S-Spokes for a while and they we definitely heavier.

Nice one. Obviously depends on the car but 250 I would be happy with, considering a stanard Cooper atm I am getting about that.

I think you'll be getting lower figures with mainly urban driving, that's where the S seems to drink fuel. About 65% of my commute is 70mph dual carriageway.

Okay so say for example I currently get around 32mpg on my cooper and let's say for arguements sake I fill up £15 which roughly would give me 2.2 gallons, I would get 32mpg in the Cooper atm but for example in the S I would get at a guess 25mpg does this mean I get approx 14 miles less to the £15 depending on driving style?

Sorry to sound very simply when it comes to this, it's not a major issue just trying to understand what the dfference would be :0)

Lol no I'm currently on the iPhone and useless with math and £15 was easy to divide in my head with the 4.4litres per gal :0)

Most if not all performance cars really suck at urban driving, my ST would get around 18-19 mpg around town, but high twenties, low 30's when mixing it up a bit.

I've given up checking how often I fill up, i just roll up to the station, hand over 50 notes and fill it up. How often I do that a month I couldnt say.

Average will be about 27-28. I would recommend super unleaded as mine ran much smoother on that, and I noticed a slight increase in MPG (approx 29).
