Noob question no doubt but I thought I'd seek expert advice.
My significant other will be purchasing some RAM to place under the Christmas tree for me.

I'm attempting to save her some money and just looking at some available kits on OCUK - DDR4 3200Mhz to be precise.

I've noticed some of the CAS latencies seem to be marginally higher than some of the kits advertised, with what seems to be at the moment some significant price differences.

I tend to opt for the premium brands, so would you say paying that little bit extra is worth it ?
At the end of the day it's not coming out of my wallet :D

If it's like it was when I was last fiddling with RAM timings the only place you'll notice really is in benchmarks.

The difference between the cheapest 16Gb 3200mhz C16 memory kit and the cheapest 16Gb 3200mhz C14 memory kit on OCUK is £60. That's a lot of money for a tiny bit of extra performance that you will only notice when benching the memory.

£8.70 to deliver the two sticks to me, I used to get free shipping but don't now for some reason :(

Haha, just checking. I've done it before myself and wondered why I was being charged postage! Might be worth a phone call...

You looking to change the ram in your sig or add to it?

OK I'll try that thanks, its for a new build at sometime :)

Unless wanting to squeeze every last fps out of it, go with the cheaper stuff if wanting to save her a few quid. Can always OC it and drop CAS.

Just rang OCUK and it turns out I don't qualify for the free delivery now because its two day delivery to NI by DPD, shame :(

It's the same for up here as well. Blame DPD because that's when it changed on here and the two other places I used to get free shipping with. Cheap and light stuff (not always though) can usually be had for RM 2nd class but anything heavy or over £50 and I have to pay for DPD's crappy two day service.

Pity all right, thanks.
