I currently have the samsung syncmaster 2032bw, which must be around 5 years old now. It has a 2ms response time, and i mainly use my computer for BF3 and video editing as well as movies and web browsing. I do like to stand up a fair bit so i really want a good viewing angle if that makes sense, maybe around £175 / £200 budget? my current screen is 21" so looking for around 23" 24"

any ideas or advise? will i get an improvement? I see some of the BenQ ones are priced well at present

To be honest the best upgrade is either 120hz or 2560x1440 res really.

I have a HP LP2475w(which i probably sell in the MM soon)....do not see a huge difference in colours compared to my BenQ though the viewing angles are better but not by much either. However for gaming the BenQ is utterly amazing.

which benq?

which benq?

It's the XL2420T that he has. It is hidden away in his signature too. :D

And by the way. I have a Samsung 2032bw lying about and just about anything you'd buy in the 22-24" size range would offer a noticeable upgrade. The image quality of the Samsung is very poor compared to modern TN panel monitors. My favoured monitors within your budget don't seem to be stocked by OcUK at the moment so I can't mention them but I imagine no matter what you buy you'll notice an improvement. I would look at some of the Iiyamas in particular as they tend to be superior to the BenQs at that price range. The XL2420T is really the only BenQ TN panel monitor I have ever 'liked'.

You can mention the products, just not link to competitors :p

Yes but I'd rather not as that still draws people away from OcUK's range. As I said the Iiyamas are good and OcUK have a good range of them. People can always use trust if they need anything specific.

It is 3D yeah, the 3D works really well on it too from what i've tested so far though i mainly bought it for the 120hz and low input lag.The stand is brilliant by the way as it's easy to adjust to how you like and makes the viewing angles perfect for your sitting.

Jimlad put it this way i never will go back to 60hz....and i see you play BF3 which it is incredibly good for.

Check the thread of the BenQ XL2420T here you will see a lot of happy people and PCM2's review goes into good detail about it.

What's your system spec? need a decent gpu or sli/cf setup for 120hz to be good though if you planning to get Keplar or some powerful gpu setup it truely benefits then.

ok cheers, but am i not paying a bit for the 3d features which i don't really need?

my spec is

Corsair 650D Case
Corsair TX 650w V2 PSU
Asrock Z68 Extreme4 Gen3 Intel Z68
Intel 2600k i7 @ 4.4ghz
Corsair H60 CPU Cooler
Corsair XMS3 8GB DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz Dual Channel Kit
Crucial RealSSD M4 128GB
MSI GeForce GTX 570 1280MB GDDR5
2 x 1TB Weston Digital

That's fine for it, well 120hz monitors usually are around £250-300 mark and you will always have 3D with them no matter what.(it's always there if you wish to try it sometime)

If you are gaming a lot then you will love 120hz, a good game that can show the difference in motion is Skyrim when you go inside somewhere hit 120fps then outside hit 50-80 in a city you will notice the difference in smoothness/motion.Your resolution will be better too as you are on 1650x1080 now i believe? so that's an upgrade aswell.

It may cost around £100 more than a standard TN HD panel but the 120hz alone i think is worth it besides your pc is very good too so why not have one of the best gaming monitors?:p

I forgot to mention this monitor generates very very little heat too.

cool, so how do you find the viewing angle? i did get a cheap 3d screen last year and had to return as the text looked fuzzy when stood up

Not far off my HP LP2475w which had good viewing angles but like i said the stand is _amazing_ and can be adjusted to however you are sitting but i been happy with it so far.You say you like to stand up a fair bit though which i assume is standing near the desk looking down at it? then that may not be good but neither was my HP LP2475w if i did that.

You can just return it anyway if you do not like it, i be surprised if you do not as when it comes to monitors/tvs i am pretty hard to impress yet this did pretty quickly especially soon as it was calibrated and BF3 loaded up.

Text looks very good on this for me however if you do decide to get one make sure you check the calibration settings in PCM2 review as they are good to use and also digital vibrancy adjusted to 60% in Nvidia Control Panel makes the colours look really good.:)

cheers mate, i understand you rate this, but not sure i want to spend quite so much at the moment, this came out in 2010 i see but i cant argue with the reviews.

No it came out last month in the UK you are talking of the XL2410T which isn't as good.

Fair enough but i just think if you going to upgrade it, it's either 120hz with 1920x1080 or 2560x1440 IPS panel any other upgrade isn't really worth it.
