Thanks for reading my thread...

I have an AGP system still.

My current GFX card is a X850 Pro @ XT speeds.

Will I see a big difference going to a X1950 512MB card?

Will be used with an XP-M @ 2.4Ghz, 1GB Ram @ 5-2-2-2, 200Mhz and a 19" widescreen monitor.

Thanks in advance guys

Hmm hard to say. The X1900 range are quick cards, but I'm not really sure the Athlon will push it enough?

I would change it anyway, and if you need to upgrade later, go for a AGP based 775 board so you can keep it still.

Save your pennies for a full upgrade of your base spec rather than wasting money upgrading obselete hardware, you should be looking at the following for good bang for buckness:

Intel Core2 E2160 http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CP-152-IN&groupid=701&catid=6&subcat=793

Gigabyte DS3R - http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MB-088-GI&groupid=701&catid=5&subcat=913

2GB OCZ DDR - http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MY-072-OC&groupid=701&catid=8&subcat=813

prices may also vary, shop around!

Then worrying about upgrading your graphics card imo, because that base spec will last you for a good while yet when you overclock the shizz out of it. :)

Yeah upgrading the graphics card won't make a huge difference. I did something similar last June when I went from a 9700 to a 7600GT. Whilst it did make a difference, the rest of my machine is quite old (Sempron 3000+) so wasn't significantly different. So don't expect miracles if you do upgrade :)

:)I would upgrade everything and not waste money on the graphics, as soon enough your other components will pull your system performance down. If upgrading everything is not an option then maybe wait a wee bit for the 3850agp offering which will have up to date tech and the best agp performance. A wee bit more out of your cpu and 2gb memory and a 3850agp would be a worthwhile jump which might see you to your next major upgrade.:)
