Built this PC (with tomahawk 550 mb) 18 months (or more???) With a 3600. Recently added a RX 6600 as prices dropped as only had an RX 570. Will I see any benefit to performance if I only use it for web, word, PowerPoint, Lightroom and Photoshop. ??

Would you see a benefit, technically yes, it's anything up to around 25% faster on some benchmarks so you'd see (small) benefits in things like photoshop, lightroom etc if nothng else. Is it actually worth spending around £180 to get said benefit, probably not imo.

We have the same processor and I've been thinking of upgrading as well. As mentioned before, for productivity we'll see more benefit in an increase of core count.

Let's hope the next generation of Ryzen has a bigger upgrade difference.

How often are you waiting for tasks to complete in photoshop / lightroom? When you're waiting is the CPU pegged at 100%?

Yes you will see a massive uplift in Adobe applications, especially Photoshop. If you sell your 3600 which seem to go for about £100 boxed with a cooler, you can pick up a 5600 new for about £165 or a refurb 5600X for about £155. So it depends if you feel the extra £60-70 is worth it to you, and the swapping over etc.

Here's a decent article showing a good selection of applications. https://www.pugetsystems.com/labs/articles/AMD-Ryzen-5000-Series-CPU-Review-Roundup-1962/

Don't think I wait normally except for things like HDR / panoramic merges. Will have to time them.....

3600 vs 5600 and 5800x3d, aimed more at gamers but gives you an idea of the increase between chips.

This ^^^^ !/ If you're not gaming with it but looking for higher performance you should be looking at a minimum Ryzen 5700X. Don't bother with another 6 core.
