Hi all,

I've read through various forums but no one seems to agree :(. I have just bought a Samsung Slimfit CRT widescreen HDTV (Model WS32Z419D). http://www.samsung.com/uk/products/television/crt/ws32z408d8xxeu.asp?page=Specifications

I have connected Composite cables in the back so I can use it for games but the image quality is very poor. It has a HDMI socket in the back and I was thinking about getting DVI-HDMI cable and trying to connect it that way but after reading some of these posts I'm not sure it will improve the picture much. Can someone give me an idea if this is worth doing or would I be wasting my money. Oh, i have a 7900gt if that makes any difference.

Composite is pretty pants as far as connection goes.
Basically its (in decending order of quality)
HDMI or DVI
VGA or Component
RGB Scart
Svideo
Composite
RF Aerial connection

DVI is a MASSIVE improvement over composite and will be as good as whatever your current monitor is hooked upto your graphics card.

You will not be disappointed.

Quick Edit:

Sorry that may not be the case that it will be as good as your monitor. I thought your link was for a Sammy LCD not a CRT, though the picture will be drastically improved I would think

It should work, although there have been reports of some people having problems using some of the cheaper adapters available.
In theory there should be no problem, but you'd have to try it to be sure.
That solution has the potential to be awesome, if you can get a high res to display on your screen.

what a bummer :0(

just looked on the web, very hard to find any details on this tv set but according to avforums this set wont work with tv out from a PC DVI-HDMI connection. Don't have a clue why though. seems i will have to live with the way it is. Thanks for the info anyway.
