Will it blow up? Plugging my PC into a US socket

I've got a Corsair CX 650 (I think, can't remember, it's less than 2 years old though). The PC is in the UK and being shipped over here to California for the weekend. I checked before I left and the PSU didn't have a voltage switch between 100v and 240v... If I plug it in with a US kettle lead, will it work? Will it go pop?

If so, I'd rather know now before it blows any parts. Worst case, I just pull all the connections off, short the black and green pins and see if the PSU turns on.

Thanks!

I think some PSUs automatically detect voltage and switch accordingly and others have a manual switch on the back.

So if there's no switch, I'd guess it does it automatically.....

The only thing that will happen is that it won't power on if it doesn't detect the change since there wouldn't be enough voltage since you're going down and not up in voltage since going the other way will cause a not so nice bang when it's turned on.

You can check the information on the side of the PSU to see if it does support US voltages, and highly likely if there isn't any kind of voltage switch it'll do it automatically.

Sweet, yea I figured it wouldn't turn on, but I did blow a PSU up years ago having it switched to 100v in the UK... POP went my GPU and the PSU.

So just want to be safe than sorry :)

Will it affect any performance only having 100v? Sounds daft, but I'm not sure how power works enough to answer that question.

It's 115V, not 100V, that's Japan. And yes it'll be fine. The PSU will switch automatically and your PC will run just as always, with slightly reduced PSU efficiency due to low voltage.
