Will it ever be possible to unlock E6600 multiplier?

Downwards they should be able to do but never upwards i would have thought!

Nobody ever did it with the AMD Chips. It was only ever done by accident due to a dodgy bios flash, and i have only read about this twice.

Intel arn't daft, they are going to make sure that these cpu's can't be mulitunlocked, otherwise everyone would by and E6300 and they wouldn't shift the other Core 2 Duo's :p

lol..thanks guys...have seen downward unlocked cpu's was hoping someone *** get into chips and unlock them..ah well...will save for x6800...

they were stupid enough to put a 20 X multi on a pentium D 805

Thats because it had a cripped FSB though so it would need a high multiplier! I think its 133? It would need to be at 4ghz just to be at the default dual core bus speed of 800mhz

True Xez, though I challenge anyone who has a CPU other than a C2D cpu to beat my CPU purely on a Bang-For-Buck basis - possibly even a 6300.

Asus have managed to do it on certain cpu's with a bios flash on their p5b board. It doesnt work with most of the cpus thou but does with some. Will be more info on this as more people start using the new bios and testing. The cpu steppings that do unlock will be worth their weight in gold
