will the Noctua NH-D14

fit in Fractal Design Define R3 Midi Tower Case - Arctic White

if not what the best cpu cooler i can fit in it thanks guys

It should do.

* Supports graphic card lengths up to circa 290mm and CPU coolers with height of maximum circa 165mm

The Noctua is 160mm high.

The Thermalright Silver Arrow is supposed to be just as good for less money.

As above in both counts - i.e. it should fit but memory profile may be a problem and the Silver Arrow is better bang for buck.

Although the Silver Arrow can measure up to 168mm - i've fitted 2 and both have been engineered over spec.

here is the total spec +

Intel Core i5-2500K 3.30GHz (Sandybridge) Socket LGA1155 Processor

Asrock Z68 Extreme4 Intel Z68 (Socket 1155) DDR3 Motherboard

Samsung B2230H 21.5" Widescreen LCD Monitor - Glossy Black

Fractal Design Define R3 Midi Tower Case - Arctic White

Lepa B-Series 750W '80 Plus Bronze' Modular Power Supply

Microsoft Windows 7 Bundle - Home Premium 64 Bit
Options applied to the above product:
Western Digital Caviar Blue 500GB SATA 6Gb/s 16MB Cache - OEM

Kingston HyperX Genesis Grey 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz Dual Channel Kit (KHX1600C9D3X2K2/8GX)

Samsung SH-S222AL/BEBE 22x DVD±RW SATA Lightscribe ReWriter (Black) - OEM

MSI ATI Radeon HD 6870 OC HAWK 1024MB GDDR5 x2 in xfire

thats the spec im going to run guys

i want to overclock the cpu to the max :)

btw just so you know the silver arrow is ok but no wares near as good as the noctua

thanks guys

I would personally get the silver arrow - you tube(?) and minor margins (temps) in other reviews outway the price difference.

But it's up to you - the noctua is great cooler just more expensive.

ermmm am i missing something ? he only ocd to 4 ghz which didnt put the silver arrow under nearly as much strain as the video i posted where it tapped out and the noctura stood strong

also in the video i posted the infomation was real time on a screen not jpegs

but besides that dont really matter i trust the reviewer hes very true with everything theres also a full review on hes website

but would a h80 be a better option for cooling in this case i dont want the noctua to swamp out the case and make it hard to do anything with if so would the h80 be easy to install ?

Read reviews from reputable tech sites - ignore you tube it's full of...

But if you're happy with the Noctua get the Noctua - but not on the back of a you tube advert/user review

Just noticed your edit:

The H80 is very simple to install and does give easy access to your memory - but at a price/performance.

i wish people would take more time to look at what i posted :( and maybe watch the video :(

We are - it's just that i read a lot of reviews and average the results so you one youtube clip will not change my mind.

No offense intended - but as mentioned earlier if you have the funds and you like the Noctua get it - it's personal choice we're just offering a contrary opinion to help.

But it sounds like you need a H80 now?

I'm sorry but if you're going to dismiss our contribution because a site you like says it was cack when plenty of other reputable review sites and users on this forum would recommend it then what's the point? You do know they could have been provided with a defective unit or something, that does happen.

it does not say its cack i dont know why youve got all defensive it does not say it cack by any means it just says at very hgih strains the noctua out performs it

it is still one of the best air coolers out there i think you may work for thermalright lol because in no point does the review site i linked or i say it was a rubish cooler

all im saying is i want to overclock as much as i can so i want the best cpu cooling i can get with out going full custome watercooling

so chill out
and read things before out get on your pedastol

quote from site (It's not to say the Silver Arrow is a bad cooler. Just not quite good enough to dethrone the Champ.)

thank you plec i was after a 4.7-8 which i know is fairly easy to get so i hope the corsair will keep up with that from what i hear of the h70 the h80 can only be better :)

ok sort thanks again guys
