I have just installed Windows 7 and like the idea of a touch screen monitor.
I see that Acer make one but wondered if they or any other had plans to produce one that is also 120hz 3D and Touch screen all in one monitor as this would be a good idea me thinks.

Not heard this idea before, and with the improvement of manufacturing processes and the definite benefits of true 120Hz LCD panels - I imagine that all LCD monitors will be built around 120Hz panels in the future. Therfore, I imagine that would include touch screens too.

However, personally i'm not convinced of the benefit of touch screens for large desktop monitors. Generally your arms get tired waving about a 20in+ screen when a few subtle flicks of the mouse could achieve the same end. As for 120Hz 3D and touch screen - wouldn't it destroy the 3D illusion if you are only able to manipulate the screen in 2D (by touching the panel) while the images are 3D? You would probably want a hand/body tracking system (something like Natal) to get a proper "minority report" interface.

Not to mention the grease build up that would accumulate on the screen. I really like your idea of natal plus a 3d display:p

OK thanks guys. I think i will get myself a 3D vision set up instead of a touch screen monitor as i will have much more fun.

The 23inch acer is the one i like as it has a higher resolution compared to the Samsung 2233RZ or does this not really make much difference??

Higher resolution obviously means more pixels for your video card to push, therefore framerates will suffer the higher you go.

Remember if you want to run 3D vision well you'll need a good Nvidia video card to do it, in most games it effectively cuts your framerates in half due to the fact it has to draw everything twice.

I'm currently using the Samsung 2233RZ and I'm very happy with the performance in conjunction with my GTX 480, although I am considering buying the Acer purely for the extra desktop space.
