Will my 360 Elite controller talk with vista?

You need the receiver.

I have same controller, and you have to hold down the button on the reciever and whilst the LED on the reciever is flashing hold down the little button on the back of the controller.

So the USB cable wont do? Windows sees it in Device manager?

I aint buying the receiver. If it wont work then it wont work.. Should do given its an all microsoft brand line up.
The wired one works fine I take it?

Not got one so cant say, I have been told by someone with that White PC model above thats the Controler is same as Xbox, its the receiver that differs.

He proved his point by using his new Elites Black Controler on his PC using that white Receiver above.

And you buy the Controler and Receiver as a Kit for the PC, you cant get a Black one yet (hope so soon though).

the usb charger cable is exactly that, just a usb charger.

the people above are right, u can get a windows wireless gaming reciever without a pad from lots of places which is what i did

i think i paid around £15 and it will work with any wireless 360 pad elite or what ever and it will work with the wireless headset too.

alternativly you can buy a proper wired controler and that will plug in and work too. and if u have a wired headset, that will work when its pluged in to the joypad, as will it work with a wireless pad doing the above.

The guy above is right, and the reciever is dead nice/useful. Good little headset (though seems to distort if you try to listen to vocal stuff through it =\), controllers (up to 4- N64 goldeneye emulation?), steering wheel...

Useful.
//for the record, I own Goldeneye still, making the backup of the rom legalish... or something. Pity my N64 broke. =( Fun times!
