I'm planning on upgrading my system in the new year to a 5900x with B550 tomohaek mb, this will be my first upgrade since 2014 (i5 4670k)

I will be reusing my fractal design R5 case and am wondering if my cooler will be enough a thermalright silver arrow sb-e, specifically this one in the link

http://www.thermalright.com/product/silverarrow-sb-e/

Any gurus with advice

Cheers

It won't work unfortunately.

5900x is AM4 and that's not in the list of supported sockets according to their site.

If you can get an am4 mount for it then it'd be just fine.

Bracket was ordered a while back. Was more a will it be enough to cool the cpu

As others have said, plenty of cooling ability .. assuming case is flowing air properly. R5 is good case but stock case fans are garbage as well as not placed properly for good airflow.

Standard fans were replaced with arctic P14 PWM, 2 in front of case and 1 rear, do have 2 spare.
