Hey I think I found a decent PSU and GPU FINALLY!

If I buy this PSU will it fit in my PC and can I then use this GPU with it?

I have 1 (24 pin) 1 (4 pin) for motherboard then i have 3 (4 pins for my cd drive, hdd 1 and hdd 2) then 3 of them thin cables (think they called SATA cables going from motherboard to both my HHDs and one to my CDdrive.

My pc is a Dell 545.

So will this psu and gpu run in my pc?
Would REALLY appreciate some help.

Thanks in advance.

p.s Will i be able to run BF3 with this GPU? x

Your Dell should have a PSU in it already with at least 1 pciex 6 pin plug, and would be way better quality than an unheard of brand from eBay. The GPU you mention will play BF3, but as it's not a top end card, you can only hope to use lower graphics quality settings.

If it was me, I would spend an extra £5 and get this card, as i'm pretty sure it's a lot more powerful http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-154-OK&groupid=701&catid=1914&subcat=1576 and not bother changing from the Dell PSU.

Well my PSU is only 300watt :/ I was looking at a 650w one for £17

FYI 1: The PSU will be a pile crap. A £17 650W PSU can probably produce less power than a high quality 300W PSU.

FYI 2: Forum rules prohibit the linking to competitors (including auction sites) so I suggest you edit the link out of your post.

Oh right :/ But can i run a 550ti on a 300w PSU? I already have an arctic freezer 7 pro running from it and 2 HHDs :/
Ok sorry il remove links.

A 550ti on an overclocked system running benchmarks will pull about 250watts at the wall, so with your standard CPU, cooler and a couple of HD's it should be fine and under 250watts total at peak load.

Im not insistant, if my PSU will run a 550Ti then i wont upgrade it :)

Lol fairs, like has been said, the 650watt PSU you we're thinking of buying would have been a downgrade on your Dells OEM one.

Also does the PSU have a 6 pin PCI-E power connector for graphics cards?

All Dell PSU's since 2004 have at least 1 pci-e power connector

You need to list the specification of the rest of your system.

And have a look at the label on the PSU and see how many amps are available on the 12V rail.

Dell 545
Intel Core 2 Quad Q8200 @ 2.33ghz (Not overclocked)
4gb ram
OS HDD: 450Gb
Extra HDD split into 2 Partitions (One at 127gb ad one at 170gb, all one HDD though)
Arctic Freezer Pro Rev.2 Heatsink and Fan
Rear Fan
Geforce 8500GT 1Gb Memory (Overlocked) With small fan on card. Powered from Motherboard, no cables into my card.

Sorry i dont know much about PCs, any other info you need to just ask and il find it.

Think the Motherboard model is dell T287N.

Thanks again guys.

If you open the PC case, from the PSU there should be a lead with a connector like this clipped on somewhere, or with one of the Dell black or orange covers over it

I keep the side off of my pc anyway, it gets too hot otherwise, my case sucks for airflow. Il have a quick peek inside see if i can see it, if not il have to turn pc off and take a look. Im pretty sure there isnt one. Il let you know in 1 min.

There is no PCE-E connector, i followed all wires from PSU and there isnt one. PC didnt come with a card in btw, only onboard gpu. And there is 2 places where it says 12v on side of PSU, one says 18A and other says 0.8A.

If the PSU only has 18A on the 12V rail (216W) then it's not going to be powerful enough for a GTX 550Ti, even if it did have a 6 pin PCI-E power connector.

This^^ You're going to have to bit the bullet and invest in a decent PSU, and the one i quote previously will be a ok.

Think im gonna buy that 450W Coolermaster, i think it has all connectors that i need. Pretty sure it does. I have 1 cd drive, 2 hdds, 1 arctic freezer 7 pro cooler. and will need 1 pci cable for new graphics card im gonna buy.
