I have a Corsair 750w psu and was just wondering if I could get another 290x in there ? Buying our first house soon hopefully so won't have much cash for a while but I want to get a new 1440p ultrawide monitor at somepoint in the future when I have the funds , but I still like to play games on the high/highest settings so just getting another 290 would be my best option I think :)

on stock I'd say should be ok. if you ran furmark, then you might get into trouble, but gaming will not be as demanding.

with OC I'd be looking into something with more W.

Power consumption AMD Radeon R9-290X 2-way Crossfire

System in IDLE = 130W
System Wattage with GPU in FULL Stress = 661W
Difference (GPU load) = 531W
Add average IDLE wattage ~20W
Subjective obtained GPU power consumption = ~ 551 Watts

Ah cool cheers that's good to know , will just be leaving them on stock as I'll only be gaming anyway :) only benchmark I do is heaven :) ... just need to get the funds together now looking at one of those 1440p dell ultra wide monitor

I ran a pair of 290's and an OC'd 3570k on and XFX 750w for about 6 months. I got a power meter to measure the draw from the wall. Usually I was hovering around the 650w mark with the occasional spikes up to about 730w. If you have everything stock no prob, but be wary of overclocking. I got an EVGA Supernova G2 1000w but I'd say a good quality 850w would be more than enough.

Should be ok, if worst comes to worst you could always under clock them a touch. I thought I was gonna have trouble with my 850 but I'm running them both overclocked and they're running fine.

Hang on, which Corsair 750w do you have? If it's a CX they have cheap internals and I wouldn't want to be running a pair of power hungry cards like the 290X off one.

Quality varied on that model but it's better than the CX series. Depending on the model number your's is either built by CWT with 720w on the 12v rail, Seasonic with 744w on the 12v rail or Chicony Power Technology with 744w on the 12v rail. How old is it though as the original was launched in 2007? If it's within the last 3-4 years you should be fine but it won't leave much headroom if you decide to overclock.

Ah cool cheers mine is 2010 I think was from OC.. I won't need to overclock I don't think plus it will be another reference card so it exhausts the air out the back of the case :)
