I hit the purchase button on a new build on wednesday and am currently awaiting for the bits to arrive. I've been reading through various threads for any info that may be useful to me. Something that was mentioned was ram with heatsinks sometimes not fitting due to inteference with the heat sink. I'm wondering if I will experience this.

I have an Asus Rampage II mobo on the way along with Corsair dominator ram and a prolimatech Megahalems cooler +2 120mm Scythe fans.

So does anyone know if this combo will be OK? fingers crossed it will be. Fingers crossed the BNPL has now all been sorted and the bits will be delivered today though I wont hold my breath on that one.

You should be fine, make sure you install the RAM before the cooler to be sure.

It's the very wide ones (the type you can install a fan inside - like mine >_>) that cause the most grief.

I have the same mobo and dominator GT ram but I have the Thermalright VX cooler.
You didn't say how much Ram you have ordered but I am presuming 6GB. If so, then yeah you will be fine with your cooler as it will only cover 1 ram slot that you wont be using. I bought the VX cooler because it doesnt obstruct any slots should I go for 12GB in the future. If you intend to use 12GB you will prolly need to use a different cooler or remove a heatsink off 1 ram stick at best.
6GB you should be fine :)

Yup I have 6gb of ram on order so will only use three slots. Take it that it doesnt matter which slots I'll use then as it'll be slot one that will be affected if any.

Cheers. It's been a while since I did a build (see ancient spec below of current build!). It was the same then for dual channel though so I should have worked that one out really!!
