Bit of a boring thread but just wanted some second opinions.
AMD X2 4600+ and a GTX 260 is ok to run off a 550W PSU right?

Thanks

It's not the best brand in the world but it should run that setup as a quick google shows it running more powerful setups.

My concern would be if it blew in the future - what fail safes has it got? May be worth looking into...

How old is it?

None probably.
It's been running fine for 1-2 years, but I'm overclocking now with the new card so that it doesn't bottleneck.

I think I'l take the risk as the card is the most valuable component and that will be insured for 2 years.

Hehe - i'm not suggesting it will blow up - more that if it did, in the future, you may have issues...

Hopefully all will be well - and it will kick in nicely without incident ;)

That was referring more to if the PSU blew in the future (just like lots of respected brands) - that it may take out other components as it probably has limited fail safes (unlike respected PSU's).

Instability and irregular voltages are the usual signs - and if it did this straight away i would give your PSU a long hard stare!

If it plugs in and runs without issue and you’re happy about the setup and card warranty - run with it. From your previous posts you seem to have nothing to lose - as you seem failry relaxed, best way to be - don't let my pessimism about it's inability to handle a blow out put you off. ;)

Lol yea. Graphics card died recently, and I wasn't able to justify getting a whole new rig.
So I don't really care about the rest.
One important question though, the HD's would be safe right? Thats something I actually don't want to loose.

PSU's with crap fail safes, unfortunately, aren't discriminate - you basically plug them in and take your chances.

If your worried just back up every day - easy to say i know - either via DVD's or you can just let windows take the strain via an external drive.
