Will my Spec work ?

I have been reading the forums, and tried (probably wrongly:o) to have a stab at a build that's fits the following criteria:

1. Budget £750 max ( I have monitor, DVD drive, keyboard, mouse, Hard drive for storage.)

2. Can be upgraded in a few years (Better CPU, more RAM, maybe Xfire)

3 Primary function: Gaming PC aiming for 60 fps at high, (ultra would be lovely, but criteria 1 and 2 are important)

I thought I would have a go myself rather than posting a "spec me" plea, I have no attachment to the items I picked, and no feelings to be hurt, so please be as honest as possible.

This would be my first build, although I have changed RAM, GPU, and PSU before.

What kind of games do you play? If it's modern FPS types then an AMD build is fine, otherwise Intel may be more suited.

With a few tweaks, you can make the above (which does work) into a pretty powerful gaming system with support for SLI/Crossfire:

YOUR BASKET
1 x Asus GeForce GTX 670 DirectCU II OC Gamer 2048MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card £189.95
1 x AMD Piledriver FX-8 Eight Core 8320 Black Edition 3.50GHz (Socket AM3+) Processor - Retail £124.99
1 x Gigabyte 990FXA-UD3 AMD 990FX (Socket AM3+) DDR3 Motherboard £113.99
1 x Samsung 120GB SSD 840 SATA 6Gb/s Basic - (MZ-7TD120BW) £79.99
1 x XFX Pro 850W Core Edition '80 Plus Bronze' Power Supply £74.99
1 x Corsair Carbide 300R Mid Tower Case - Black £61.99
1 x Patriot Intel Extreme Masters 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz Dual Channel Kit (PVI38G160C9K) £49.99
1 x Alpenföhn Matterhorn Pure Edition CPU Cooler £29.99
Total : £740.88 (includes shipping : £12.50).

That Is great, I hadn't really researched the Intel build, so I have some more food for thought.

I will come back and let you know my final basket (Got to strike whilst the Brownie points are still high....... and before she spends my budget)

Cheers !
