Hi there,

My 560ti is on deaths door so am looking to upgrade to a 780ti but am wary about my PSU.

Current system:

ASUS® P8Z77-V LX
i7-3770k @ 4.4ghz
SPIRE GEMINI REV.3-THERMAX CPU COOLER
8GB KINGSTON HYPER-X GENESIS DUAL-DDR3 1600MHz
1TB WD CAVIAR BLACK HDD
CORSAIR 650W ENTHUSIAST SERIES™ TX650 V2-80 PLUS® BRONZE

Would i need to upgrade the PSU? Or should I be ok?

Thanks for any help!

Should be fine, PSU is a bit low if you were asking to buy that model now but since you already have it I am sure it will be alright if its not weak.

No SLI 2 of those in future with it though.

yeah cards in olden days used to require loads as the fabrication process was huge for gtx480s and 4870x2s and you may have struggled but with the 780ti and the 290x you can guarantee flawless performance from even a 600w power supply. We're running a 7970 overclocked with a 4670k overclocked to 4.0 in a tiny case with a 450w corsair and if you do the sums it's all enough headroom.

That power supply will be more than enough. I ran an overvolted 480 GTX on a Corsair 620w for over 2 years with no issues.

Here is watt i do, see watt i did there :) anyway take no notice of what these manufacturers recommend as the dont have a clue what you power with your PSU, quite often the dont have a clue what there on products draw, E.G ASUS claim there 780ti uses an additional 375 Watts of power, whilst review show more like 230 watts give or take (not including overclocking), each card will be different so alway grab a review to read if they are available will also show what they draw when overclocked, use a PSU calculator to work out what you are using now, then add the two together plus 50 watts + for good measure and you should be good to go :)

I wish the just say on the box what the power the actual card uses than recommend watt based on average builds, not to mention Amps needed, tho evga does recommend 42 Amps on the 12 rails, ur puu is good for 53 Amps ;)

780ti sli maximum was 624 watts while benching Heaven 4

4770k @4.4, 8x 140mm fans all max, 2x HD, 2x SSD, 2x led stip lights, but i went for the Corsair AX1200i just in case lol.
