Will Nvidia Ever Support Freesync ?

I'm sure I read some time ago that you could send off your monitor to have a gsync module installed, is this still available?

Is it? Explain why you think this is the case.

I would so do this as the BenQ XL2730Z is the best monitor I've owned to date even when compared to the ROG Swift the picture is just better i.e the colours pop more, I had nightmares with the Swift XD

I was all set to get a fury just so I could have the benq monitor, I opted for 980ti which I wouldn't swap but now it seems the rog swift is my only realistic option, why don't benq make a gsync version of it? they do a 24" 1080p version so I don't understand, it would fly off the shelves

I think the only point we'll see nvidia supporting adaptive sync will be if the majority of monitors (especially cheaper and mid range) out there start supporting it by default and people buy them "by accident" for the other features they offer, and later think, "now that I'm upgrading my gpu, I might go AMD since my monitor supports free sync already". Then, nvidia risk losing market share as people then think "man this sync stuff is cool, I'll stick with AMD".

So it would have to happen organically. I don't plan on buying gsync monitors because I don't know what AMD will bring to the table next year. If the monitor also supported free sync, that would potentially be a different story though.

Dont think they will ever come out and and say we support freesync but the adaptive sync that is part of the VESA standard I think they will.

They will add a non-feature to G-sync to keep it at a premium then announce support for VESA adaptive sync.

TBH if they dont I think someone will come up with a way to get VESA adaptive sync working with Nvidia cards once they ship with DP1.2a as its an open standard and there's plenty of clever people out there

Please elaborate.

Would be pretty interesting if they did support the open standard, although as mentioned clearly Nvidia A) Make Money from it B) Lock people into their propriety standard meaning they are more likely to buy another one of their cards.

I think this explains it quite well and testers found G-Sync better....

Gibbo has confirmed that running the monitor at 100hz does not affect warranty. Having posted that, any problems and it will be OCUK that need to sort it out. I always buy everything on credit card now anyway because of the extra level of protection that gives.

Okay thanks, I've read several posts by people saying it is use at your own risk which seemed a bit odd.
