Saw a nice review on another website of a full HD 24'' monitor from BenQ, i thought, RIGHT, gotta get me one as the video review and what some peple have said have been nothing short of awesomness for the price, will OcuK ever stock BenQ, if they do sorry i aint seen them :p
 
Ok get this, i just ordered this -( http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showp...creen HDMI/HDCP LCD HD Monitor - Black/Silver )- from a competitor website in australia for 50% less and shipping only cost a little bit, ive saved about 40% by going somewhere else, its £298 from OcuK and as i went to an australian site i got it for 136.17 British pounds sterling, why such a difference surely they get it from the same manufacturer ? does the UK version have gold plating on it ?

Well it is on its way and the exact amount payble is £195 total including delivery etc... and this is what i found most funny, its the UK version, the exact one you can get from OcuK, kind of laughable that i can order from a country 10 thousand miles away (ish) and get it for 2/3 of the price with delivery than i can in this country.
 
The point is, order from another country by all means LOL don't complain when you find out it is a 419 company. If you do not know what I am talking about google 419 companies.

Well got it today, plugged in and all is excellent, everything works and the pic is perfect, this was from a well known austrailian company at 2/3 the price and the exact same model of the OcuK shop version and thats with import tax, delivery etc.. i asked the lady on the phone why it was so cheap, she replied "thats normal why how much would you pay over there ?" well when i told her she was horrified and said "its just plain greed" and you know what ? i couldnt agree more.
Dont get me wrong i will still be buying things from OcuK like coolers, case mods, fans etc.. but i will deffinetly be doing more bargain hunting if i can get a great product for that price.

so how much duty and VAT did you have to pay? or did it slip through?
Getting it cheaper from overseas is fine unless u have problems with it then ** screwed!
just out of interest what Oz site did u use?
I import stuff from US sometimes but usually BIG orders that will make the saving worthwhile and usually stuff u can only get in US. its fun while it goes well but one item was stuck in customs for two weeks and then i got stung for £250 import duty and VAT!

I think that some people need to also consider that whilst there are products that might well be cheaper elsewhere, even imported ones, the backup and support at Overclockers is very good and easily accessible. Any issues are promptly dealt with and even the odd time they seem to get it wrong it is soon put right. That to me is a worthy consideration when you are buying hardware these days.

I would also suggest, as it has already been pointed out, that this forum is owned and maintained by OC and discussions of buying products from competitors is a big no no and must be respected. Requesting competitor links I imagine would also frowned upon.

Really ? maybe your head is too close to a cow pat, to me it smells like a brand new monitor :D you forget that in the uk its the most overpriced placed in the world and ive been to a lot of countries and been shocked at how much we over pay here.

Are you sure? With the current exchange rate everything in Europe is now expensive, I couldn't wait to get back to "rip off Britain" even our fuel is cheaper :o
 
And which country have you been to that is more expensive than this hole ? you gotta remember we in england pay through the nose for everything, its the most expensive place in europe and im not making this up, ive been to pretty much every country in the EU and england is the most expensive, why ? i dont know but the people deserve better.
