Will ocuk stock the asus Commando

HI there

So what makes this board so good then?

I ask as I am trying to figure out why its so damn expensive!!

Surely a DFI 975X is a better buy with just as good performance now they have improved BIOS and seem to be hitting 400-460FSB which for a 975X chipset is very good. :)

I have seen this on pre order for £164.49 including VAT which does seem a lot for a P965 based board especially when you can get a DS3 for less than £100 and a DS4 for less than £120. What makes the Commando so special?

Has there been circumstances whereby suppliers such as BFG/Asus etc force ( indirectly ) OcUK to buy their products? Just wondering.

Hi there

Not at all, I decide what products we sell or do not.

OcUK shall obviously sell this board but am wonderin if this product has any major difference to any othe 965 chipset mainboard to justify the extra cost?

I think it is best to purchase a low amount of stock for this particular mobo.

1. To prevent excess stock and then it would be a pain in the head to try and sell it off in the future.

2. Give it time for reviews to pop up on the net and see how it does.

3. See the demand for this mobo.

Might want to do a demand check on the forum and see if theres enough people interested in it.

460 is fairly low now - the P5WDG2 and P5W64 both go well past this with 975 chipsets. I agree with you though about whats so special about this board?

I think it is under the asus series " Republic of Gamers ". People pay premium to have a branded component in their rig. Same goes for things like, "X"6800 compared to "E"6600. Anyway, it all has to do with the mentality of consumers that believes in having branded yet more or less the same board in their rig.

And if you go to forums like vr-zone, people seems to be interested in this board. But I haven't got a chance to read on that post about it.

The 'cost' additions seem to be the POST LCD and the audio daughterboard but why 4 PCI slots and only one PCIe x 1?

How many pci-e x1 cards do you use? Everything is still pci - they still havent even released an x-fi on pci-e x? Surely 4 pci slots is much more useful than 4 pci-e x1 slots

It's a reworked,2nd gen P965 board.
This and it's fellow 2nd gen boards from all the other tier 1 mobo makers will become the choice for 6300's and 6400's.
Only the 2mb cache Conroe's are capable of over 450 fsb in any chipset(with the execption of 3000 series lga xeons but that's not confirmed)
Yes the cost is high, but you get what you pay for, with a decent 6300 and the ram to go with it,500+ fsb is virtually guaranteed out of the box from this board.
Tony(Bigtoe) has a 3.7+ capable 6300 and it flies on this sucker.

Use the pci-e x16 slot for x1 card if you need more man, i dunno why boards actually use x1 slots at all: should all be x16 slots...
