Hello there,

I have recently started getting back into PC gaming and therefore decided to spend a little bit of money on my rig.

I now currently have:
Intel i5 750 with Corsair H80i Watercooler
Corsair 2x4GB 1600mhz
OCZ 700W PSU
Asus Xonar D2 Sound Card
ATI HD Radeon 6870
MOBO: Asus p7p55d
2 intake fans
3 exhaust fans

I have managed to get it running at 3.6Ghz, Temperature at idle is around the 29C mark across all 4 core and under a stress test (Using prime95) the core will be sat at around 48C.

I have Overclocked it by following this chaps guide:
http://www.legionhardware.com/articles_pages/intel_core_i5_750_overclocking_guide,1.html

But for some reason if i start turning up the BCLK anymore than I already have, the computer will blue screen and restart.

Is there anything else that i could be doing wrong?

Thank you for taking the time to read this, I dearly hope someone on this forum can help me out

Regards,
Daniel

After having a read around on this site, it seems the guide linked above isn't the best way to OC.

Will try and follow the "Beginnes Guide" stickied at the top of this forum when I get home from work this evening.

What speed is your ram running with your current overclock? You may need to knock it down by a divider or two to get further.

see now these are things i need to learn about because i don't know.

Anyone would assume that if you bought 1600mhz ram, it wil be running at 1600mhz but i bet that isn't the case aftetr having a read around on here.

:D

No. If you increase base clock you also increase the ram frequency in line with it. You should be able to see in the bios the actual frequency your ram is running at. You need to multiply this by 2 to get the effective speed (DDR stands for Double Data Rate :)).

If your ram is running overclocked at the moment knocking it down one divider should give you some more headroom on the CPU overclock.
