Will PC3700 512mb work with P2700 512mb

Friend wanted to add a second stick of ram to upgrade to 1GB. He went to another well known store after I told him what to get but came back with 3700 as oppose to 2700 RAM. He said they were sold out and I was told this would be ok by the sales person? Is that true?
Since i installed it and tested that it all worked. He got home to find his ps2 keyboard and mouse dont work and only usb mouse works :confused:

the 3700 will work fine with it as it wil alow down to the speed of the 2700 stick. He must have paid a fair bit for it so he's best of taking it back and getting a stick of 2700. Are you sure it is 3700 anyway?

If you have 2 diff sticks the faster stick will run at the speed of the slower one...

Do you mean PC3200 and PC2700 instead of 3700 and 2700?

I`ve got 4x512Mb pc 3700 running @ 200Mhz FSB and it runs fine, so can run slower than rated
