As title, after having downloaded Siren: Bloodcurse I have now run out of room on my 40gb PS3.

No - you can upgrade the HDD easily enough though.
Yeah just make sure you backup your game save data on some sort of external hard drive beforehand.

What I did was to buy an external 2.5" SATA caddie and a new 2.5" drive for my PS3. Then put the new drive in the caddie and backup your pS3 - plug this into your PC and copy this onto your PC's HDD. Take the new drive out of the caddie and replace with the drive in your PS3 - then put the old 40GB drive into the caddie and plug it into the PC. Format it and then copy backup files back onto the caddie drive ready to restore to the new PS3 HDD.
If that makes sense?
did that work ok ? I have a 320gb drive + a caddy that I was intending on putting the 60gb drive in arriving tomorrow, I don't have *confidence* in the drive in my 3.5" caddy so would be much better if I could do it via this method.
edit: so the backup files can be copied anywhere, basically ?
well your the drive in your caddie has to be formatted to fat32, then once you have backed it up you can copy the backup files across to your pc. Worked a treat for me when I put my 250GB drive in - I used the old 160GB drive in the caddie I bought as an extenral drive now.
That's great, I'll likely take a copy of the backup files to my NAS, just in case.
it doesnt backup any account info etc as thats all stored in flash memory rather than on the hdd.

If you've only got a few save files it's much easier to copy them up one by one onto a pen drive in my opinion.
