Will Q6600 get over 3.4GHz without overclocking the RAM? It's PC6400.

q6600 can get to 3.6ghz on 400fsb without overclocking your ram.

Nothing above 3.0ghz is really advisable on the stock heatsink...

Surely if the temps are ok and the volts aren't too high you could push it a bit further?

What sort of temps? < 65 preferably?

Personal choice really. I, coincidently like, < 65 under load (orthos)

I have mine running at 400fsb*9 with PC6400 and get load temp of around 60. This is with the Tuniq tower though so I wouldn't suggest overclocking much on the stock HS.

These chips run quite hot at stock.

For some reason, I can run 3.4ghz on 1.41v, but 3.6ghz fails on all higher volts that I've tried (I haven't tried 1.5v yet, cus that'll certainly overheat the cpu anyway).
