Will restricted airflow damage my gpu?

Hey guys,

I'm upgrading my 1060 to a 1070, but a bit worried about airflow. My current blower style card works well in my space limited nano s case. Long story short my psu is right next to my gpu with around a 5-6mm clearance, and the blower fan has good clearance as it stretches past the back of the psu.

Will I be ok with limited clearance on a non-reference gpu for the fans, or should I stick with another blower style 1070?

Cheers guys.

You might get higher than normal temps which may cause the card to throttle, but it won't damage it at all.

It shouldn't, but I would get the reference/founders cooler too exhaust air out of the back of the case, that way it should keep the noise down and the clocks high

Modern components have onboard temperature monitoring, so they'll throttle and reduce power draw to protect themselves from damage. It does mean that performance might reduce though.

I would have thought the nano s has decent airflow though, especially if you add a second fan to the front, basically having plenty of fresh air blowing over your GPU area.

you will be fine you may even see better temperatures.

As the case is the small the air will be circulated much faster = more fresh air hitting the gpu more often.
