Just about to but a new core 2 cpu, I have been waiting for the price drop, now that its here I would like to know, reading by the specs, if the E6420 will give me the same performance of the E6600, the only difference that I can see is the E6420 stock speed is 2.13GHz and the E6600 is 2.40GHz, both have the 4mb cache,I will be overclocking so is there much difference in performance between the 2? trying to hold of buying the Motherboard to the DFI Infinity P965-s is released.

Both at stock: E6600 faster
Both overclocked: E6600 faster
E6420 clocked to E6600 speeds: identical
Conclusion: buy the E6420 and overclock :)

That's my feeling on it anyway, although it's never cut and dry because the E6600 is cheap now and will overclock to higher speeds than the E6420 due to the higher multiplier.

For the sake of the £25.00 difference is the E6600 the better buy with the higher multiplier then? for what I have been reading so far on these forums far people are saying its luck of the draw with the new E6600 the older ones clock much better!
