Currently in need of a new psu to get my rig up and running and was considering getting the Corsair HX750. Would it be overkill and should I get the HX650 instead? I do plan on keeping this rig a few years.

I have everything except a psu and gfx card (GTX 580)

2600K overclocked
P67A-UD4-B3
128gb M4
2 1TB drives
1 optical
4x4gb (16gb) XMS3
X-Fi Gamer

For a single GTX580 a good 650/750W PSU is fine, for a pair of them in SLI a 850W+ PSU is needed.

You can get away with a 650w with the 580, my system is sig pulls 500w from the mains with prime and Furmark running together.

Also I have several hard discs and watercooling.

Ok thanks.

Don't think I will ever be going sli. Looking at a new monitor in next few months and shouldn't be going over 1920x1200 (Dell U2410)..

Corsair used to have a nice non complicated product line up - modular vs non-modular.

Now for the 750W they have:
TX750-V2
TX750M
HX750
AX750

You have to start reading the spec sheet carefully, different size units, max amps on the 12v rail, how many 6 or 8 pin vga headers.

I installed the CX600v2 there on thursday, and it's not bad.
