Hi all quick Question.

About to order an Asus P8P67 Pro and already have 2 sticks of Corsair Vengance. Would like the NH-D14, so will it fit ok with that RAM ?

As I have 2 sticks is there any problem putting the sticks in slots 3&4 instead of 1&2 as would be the norm.

So any one with this combo

Ta in Advance

haha - no chance mate :p

and if you put the sticks in 3 and 4, they will be running in single channel more, not dual channel

ok so other option is the H80 what fans would be recommended to swap out the stock ones.

what case do you have? you might be able to make it fit if you put the fan thats over the ram in its raised position.

i would personally go for the thermalright silver arrow, because if you mount it in the correct way you can make it avoid the RAM slots altogether:
(and it performs within 0.25C of the noctua NH-D14)

ps, you want the RAM in slots 2 and 4 for best performance i believe

I swapped mine out for Vipers, performance is the same if not better, noise is significantly reduced. But its personal preference, 1850rpm Gentle Typhoons are also commonly mentioned as H60/80/100 replacement fans.

personally i;d recommend that you go for a h80, i have the d-14 in one machine and the h50 and personally i prefer the h50 because it is a lot less weight on the motherboard and also you can access your ram

For the price of getting a H80 and swapping the fans, you can sell your ram, get some low profile ones and buy a Silver Arrow and still be better off!

i'd rather pay more so that i dont have to look at the SA every day! :p

I tend not to open my case and look :p.

Well I do... but only because I'm constantly swapping kit. My point still stands though. Imo, air coolers still look better. I get annoyed at the amount of cables that come with those ALC units.

The whole 1 extra cable :p

I do know what you mean however, unless you have a case with good cable management and a slot where usually the 4/8pin power connector would come through to hide things it can look messy with that molex/3pin cable hanging around.

It's easy to hide fan cables below the heatsink itself but not so much with ALC units.

I just made sure the fan cables were directed to come out behind the rad/fans then tucked the cables behind the motherboard to the fan headers, granted they look a mess if your fans are plugged directly into the H80 block. There isn't much you can do if you take that option.
