Hey guys,

Just wondering if u guys think that the price of graphics card will drop once the new ATi cards get released next week??

or have they dropped already as the new cards are coming out?

Thanks,

The reason I am asking this is because I am looking for a graphics card, but dont have the budget for a 8800GTS. and that if the price of graphics card is gonna drop further, then i should wait??

i am considering the sapphire x1950pro... not sure if its gonna drop much further though, any idea?

It's probably worth waiting 'til ATI release their new batch of cards, just in case, but you'll probably find that Nvidia keep the prices as they are, as they've already dropped a little over the last few weeks.

ATi usually drop the prices of cards when they're discontinued, to clear the way for the replacement cards. Retailers can cut their margins to clear stock too, so you might see the X1950 at "This week only" prices soon.
It's definitely worth waiting a week to find out.

What sucks is, the only ATI card that currently offers any decent improvement over my X1800XT 256MB, is the X1950XTX which is £240 :(

That or switch to an 8800, which is way over budget.

Guess I'm sticking with the X1800 til the end of the year then *sigh*

Any movement in prices is always going to depend on the performance of the ATi cards. If they end up beating the 8800s at their own price points, then no doubt nVidia would be forced to drop prices to stay competitive.

But if the ATi cards suck, then nVidia will probably just keep the prices where they are.

It's well worth waiting for the new cards at this time.

been looking at the X1900XTX crossfire benchmarks and look very good and in most games beat the 8800GTS, seeing as you dont need a crossfire master card anymore might pick me up a pair later on for about 180! :D

I'll have to see what the R600 is like ofcourse ;)
