Work on my PC? I've got the USB and I'm installing the drivers from Microsoft right now but I've heard it only works with the wired version.

Wired works fine, wireless will work too but you need the wireless receiver for PC.

It won't work using the play and charge USB kit, that only charges and no data is sent over it. You'll need the wireless crossfire receiver or a proper wired pad.

If you have a wired one then yes straight out of the box. If you have a wireless one then you will need to buy an adapter
