Do you think there will be a big difference between Compoment and HDMI on the Elite in picture quality? Also Its ment to have a little better cooling, will that make it last longer?

Not really, there was a comparison on gamespot i think and they said it was extremely marginal.

HDMI may be sharper but component may be softer. Depends what you like.

Elite has the same cooling as far as im aware. They may have the new heatsink in the ones that are going to come out here though.

Depends on the TV and the quality of the connectors it has, and as for the cooling I doubt it, the 'fixed' 360's are sposed to be rolling out to stores soon apparently so maybe the Elites that hit the UK this month might have the new cooling solution.

Could happen.

Wonder if there will be a redesign when the 45's come in, 18 months time seems like a good point for a cheap 360 to come out ala pstwo/ds lite etc.

If our Elites come as hoped with 65nm I will be tempted to trade up.

HDMI is not some amazing high quality connection as some people seem to think. It's no better than component or VGA, it's just convenient because video and audio are over the same connection.

I wonder if you can use the HDMI cable for all backwards compatible games (like the component) and upscale dvd's (like the vga) It's worth having just to save swapping them around for different situations all the time.

It's really starting to grate on me all these people who think HDMI is this massively important new thing. Bar the benefit of Audio being carried there are no other positives for the home user.

Unless they have masses of interference behind their TV, but in most cases that's a complete non-issue.

Hdmi is digital unlike component and vga so there is no converting of digital to anolouge then back to digital it will give a better picture although it may be marginal depending on the tv or it could be a big difference

dvi to hdmi gives the best signal quality on my tv from my pc the colours were terrible over vga but my 360 is ok over vga but makes me wonder would the difference be comparable with my pc if i tried a hdmi 360

only reason i would get a elite though is if the noise level was silent this annoys me a lot more than a marginal difference in picture quality hdmi would be a bonus but that or the bigger hard drive would not make me buy it silent operating is more of a selling point for me

but i would probably get a Ps3 so i have the choice of two systems exclusives before i would get a 360 Elite as i am happy enough with my 360
