I am very tempted to get a PSP for Football Manager 06 and Champ Man. That would be the only sole reason for getting a PSP.
Anyone know if any similar titles are coming out on the DS because that is the machine i realy want ?

On the Super Nin there was Keven Keegans Player Manager and on the GBA their has been Player Managers and Premier Managers.
Si Games themselves said they would love to have a crack at coding on the DS coz of the possibilites with dual screen and touch screen.

There have been Player Manager games on the GBA and probably will be another on the DS. But yea, would be a dream if we could all play Football Manager on the DS using the stylus for easier interaction, and having 2 screens would help A LOT as well.

Yes.
Considering you can transfer a large amounts of game data to the DS on its own (It has something like 4-8Mb of internal memory for storage, with normal memory as well for the system/games).
Add to that storage on the DS cards.
And then to that the storage devices that fit in the GBA slots, like what the Opera web browser uses.
I'd imagine that two processors in it are more than capable of running a decent management game.

Not for Football Manager though. The game is an absolute hog, and although they managed to scale it down to the PSP, I very much doubt they'd bother to put the time and effort into making a DS version. That, and the PSP is seen as the "lads" handheld, which makes me think we'd be unlikely to see any other manager games on the DS either.

So no, I wouldn't hold my breath personally.

We'll see.
To say its incapable of running a game like that is beyond the scope of claims either way. As no-one here can really comment on its true capabilites because of the full specifications of the console & its theoretical performance being so under wraps.

I didn't say it was incapable of running a game like it, I said it's highly doubtful that Football Manager in particular will ever come to the DS. It's no doubt possible to make a manager sim for the DS, regardless of whatever specs it has, and I'd love to see one too, but in relation to the question of the OP, I honestly don't think we'll ever see FM DS.

From all the above speculation it would seem that there isn't even a whiff of a DS football manager game. Shame cos I was wondering the same thing.

Can't see one coming out in the off season so if there was one coming out it probably won't be until August at the earliest (but we'd have surely heard something about it by now if that was the case).

I think with the DS Lite UK release the demographic may change and the console will be more "lads" orientated. Whether that means a footy sim or not I dunno.

lol.
You worded your original point as in HW capabilites.
And now this one your talking from a software development point of view.
:p

I understand it's difficult to differentiate between "Football Manager" and "a manager sim" game, but well done at trying to throw me off tack nonetheless.

I'll put it simply:

Football Manager DS = Highly unlikely. Big game, would require either a complete makeoever or simply starting a new one from scratch, something that I doubt SIGames would bother with.
Any other manager sim game that isn't actually FM = Quite possible, but I just don't think we'll see one made. But that's opinion of course, and I could well be wrong.

Why am i trying to 'throw you off tack'?
It was claimed that the DS wasnt powerfull enough, And when i said that that cant be proven either way, you decided to go on a software point of view of wether the developers would or wouldnt.
Thats not throwing you off. Thats pointing out facts.

Again, your looking at it from a software point of view only.

All software developed for closed-hardware systems is completely dependent on the hardware used. When talking about consoles, the two are very closely linked, so I'm hardly changing my argument to discuss both.

I said that Football Manager, in its current state, is a complete hog, and not even the PSP version could simply be ported to the DS and work, hence the hardware would not be up to it. So to make a version for the DS would require an entirely new version of it to be written completely from scratch, and I doubt SI would bother wasting time writing that software. That's not changing my point, that's considering the full possiblities.

Anyway, this argument is going nowhere, and we're wasting needless posts bickering about semantics. I don't think we'll ever see an FM DS, and probably not any management games at all, unfortunately. You, on the other hand do.

Lovin the fact that your trying to go all complex over this when theres no need to! Now whos trying to 'throw someone off tack'. :p
The fact that your pointing out obvious facts as statements of your own isnt exactely gonna impress anyone either. :p
I dont 'think' that there will be a FM game. Ive said that its a possibility. To again quote you, theres a difference. ;)
