Will there be a UT4?

Will there be a UT4? iv been looking around google and i can see very little. There might be a UT4 when the unreal engine 4.0 comes out. Thats about it. Anyone got anymore info or any sites that say there will or will not be a ut4?

Downloading UT2004 again to see if i can get back into it

just thought about looking to see if there was a UT4. I think there should be. UT3 was a fail to me. I love mapping and modding in ut2004, making the strangest guns etc but in ut3 i didnt enjoy that

I've been getting back into UT99, still a great game after all this time but now with the bonus of playing at insane resolutions compared to 800x600 back in the day!
UT99 and UT2K4 were great, I just don't get why UT3 is so unappealing :S might be the over the top Gears of War style applied to it.
I hope if there is a UT4 it is more like 99 and 2K4.

i hope they bring out a REALLY early beta for JUST PC gamers to give all there opinions and ideas in what they want. Only thing i liked in UT3 was there level editor. Didn't crash as much as the UT2004 one. I see it as if you can make a great game on the pc it will thrive on the ps3 and xbox.

Best thing about ut99 and ut2k4 is that there are MILLIONS of mods out there, private and public what make the game a million times more playable. Also the original game and weapons etc are still massivly fun to play with.

you know any servers that run it ? im downloading ut2004 on steam, gimme 3 hours

or till tonight if my speed goes down again.

Iv got all my old maps/textures/sounds folder all backed up so i dont think ill be spending days just auto downloading stuff.

If UT2004 servers are still up and thriving I'd be tempted to dig the disk out from the loft

Cant remember why I stopped playing it

Multiplay have a wide rotation of mods. I added you on MSN if you want to discuss on there

I think if there's another UT it will also be on consoles, then ported to PC, it will probably be more warfare based, along the lines of Quake Wars.

I don't know any figures but from looking at server popularity it seems like UT3 bombed

Which is a shame as I thought it was great. But I think people are just wanting more than regular DM these days, CTF was far more popular in UT3.

last time i check there was quite a lot of servers. Its hard to find a basic server with no downloads (sounds etc)

i gave up last time for that reason. It was to hard to find a server without waiting hours to get in

I found the DM in ut3 a lot better than the CTF. If UT3 was a less demanding game i think a lot of people would have bought it. If it held more players ( like 64 in total or even 100) it would be an amazing game

Epic have said they currently have no plans for another Unreal series game - can't remember the source, most likely via BeyondUnreal.

This is correct, fairly sure it was Mark Rein who was talking about the Unreal 4 engine. He said something along the lines of Unreal Tournament being used in it's most recent iterations mostly as a tech demo to show what the engines could do.

Mark mentioned that the Unreal 4 engine is not really expected till 2012 and that Unreal tournament itself would be taking a break till around that time. Will try and find a source, was late last year he mentioned this.

For those interested, Unreal Engine 4 development will fully start sometime in 2008. With the next generation of consoles not expected to launch until around 2011-2012, it’ll be a while before you’ll be fragging photo-realistic enemies in Unreal Tournament 4.

I thought U3 got a bit of raw deal. The patches / free DLC were a riot of imagination. Alien vehicle capture the flag is ace.

Yeah UT3 got mud thrown at it when it launched and it never really washed off sadly. The game engine though is used in some very big titles and they have made a lot of money from that side of the business compared to the relatively low sales figures of UT3

I love UT99 but I just cannot get it to play smoothly?

I knocked up an AMD K6/2 500 a few months back, slapped in 256MB, Ran Win2000 and gave it an old nVIDIA and it plays it super smooth at 1024x768

Somehow on all my PCs these days its just seems a little jerky! - Enough to put me off anyway.

As for 2004, only today me and the kids had another blast at that only to be told by 2 of the PCs that the serial could not be verified? - they all have their own DVDs with their own serials and everything.

So, Im a bit piddled off by that.

UT3 I actually iked in many ways, but completely hate in others. The story was... Well... It wasnt was it!

The others had a simple plan... A brutal serias of games, nothign more, but to try to add that story simply killed the game for me.

FatRakoon, check the forums at Beyondunreal... There is a commandline entry to "inform" UT'99 of the CPU speed, not to mention there is now a super enhanced s3tc texture set for use with OpenGL and the utglr custom UT OpenGL renderer.

Hope not. They've murdered the series.

UT99 was awesome. 2003/4 was average. UT3 was *****.
