I'm really hoping that there will be blocks for MSI 970 gaming cards as I'm going to order a pair next week. :D
Do you think that someone like EK will release a block for this card? do you think other 970 cards will get blocks if so what ones you hoping for?

EK Thermosphere blocks fit those cards.

Here are a couple fitted to my Galax 970 EXOC's - great temps :-)

Non Reference card?

Unless the reference blocks fit on a non-reference design you can pretty much abandon all hope for a non-reference built block. It's a waste of R&D/design time for a small market segment.

If you are going water, do yourself a favour and buy a reference card. Pointless buying a custom cooler design, paying the extra for it, then ripping it off to put a block on.

I'm water cooling my system next weekend hopefully if everything arrives in time, my 970's don't go over 50'c heavily clocked at 100% load, so I don't think I'm going to bother cooling them with water :)

So what do you think is more likely to get waterblocks the MSI 970 GE oor the Gigibyte G1.

If push comes to shove and non of them get blocks then the EK thermosphere uni blocks will have to do. they dont look as nice and dont cool ram but its still watercooling :p

Nope. The stock cooler didn't dool the ram either. Same on other cards inc the MSI ones.

I was wondering since I use GPU-only blocks on my 670s where the VRAM doesn't have heatsinks either, the stock cooler just blows air over them. I had some choppiness in games which I believe was down to the VRAM overheating.

I remedied it by putting a 120mm fan on low speed to give some airflow over both cards.

Yes, that's what I have as well - one 120mm fan at the end of the cards blowing to the rear.

As most of the 'custom' 970's use PCB form older cards it's very easy to get full cover blocks that work.

GTX670 full cover blocks are on my 970's and bolt straight on with no problems.

The EVGA SCX GTX760 water block bolts straight onto the EVGA SCX GTX970 too....

You would be surprised what old blocks fir the newer cards.
