will there ever be a new mac forum?

I know there has been much talk of having a separate mac forum on here in the past and it has always been denied but with the up and coming release of leopard do you think now would be the time to campaign for a separate mac forum?
 
It works okay as it is, as far as Mac owners are concerned ;) But the large number of Mac threads have displaced the Linux threads and have driven many Linux users / posters away from this forum.

fair point the linux threads do get a bit swamped, but is there really enough traffic to justify seperation?
 
I would say a separate forum would be better as it wouldnt clutter up serious linux topics and vice versa!

This thread pops up every few months. No, it will not be separated unless there is a significant increase in traffic. It's extremely unlikely that it will be separated.

You will not get a seperation anytime soon as there isn't enough traffic to justify the extra forum.

yeah im aware of the previous requests but I was thinking with the introduction of Leopard very soon will it not be bringing some more life back into the mac section?
 
there should be as mac covers hardware and software but its in the software forum? :confused:

Even if it did, a) it would only be temporary and b) it wouldn't increase the level of Linux posts, which Yewen has said would also be needed before a forum split was considered again.
 
Please close this we all know where its going, a 9 page debate on it and its not happening ocuk dont sell mac's so its not good for business and the linux forum isnt busy enough to warrent it. I personally think there should be two seperate ones because i am not interested in *** linux posts but its not going to change especially since they said no only a month or two ago.
 
it will happen (at a guess) when this forum gets as high a volume of traffic as GD from both mac and linux/open source topics

There didn't seem to be a lot of traffic in here when it was just Linux though. The Mac users have probably doubled the amount of posts so I don't think it's a good idea just now until there are more users of either o/s.
