Hi, I have been out of the loop so am not up to speed on things, a little bit of scanning the forums and I have come up with what I hope will make a nicely overclockable system (on air) :

GeIL 2GB (2x1GB) PC6400C4 800MHz Ultra Low Latency DDR2 Dual Channel Kit
EVGA nForce 680 (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard
Intel Core 2 DUO E6600 "LGA775 Conroe" 2.40GHz (1066FSB)

Anyone I could do better without spending more ?

Presumably the CPU even at stock, is faster than an opty @ 2.9 ?

What would be the best quiet air cooling solution for the CPU ?

Do the Conroes run hot or cool in relation to Opty's ?

Presumably CPU is multi locked, so overclocking is done on the FSB ?

Cheers

Hmm I had heard the intel chipsets can be poor o/c, wereas the 680i is meant to be very good o/c ?
So a 6600 would need what fsb to run, say, 3.2 ... I am not familiar with the FSB and such on the Conroes ?
What CPU speed could I get without taking the memory above its rated speed but keeping it 1:1 ?

Aye .. but what does 1:1 at that memory's rated speed equate too out of curiosity ;)

Is the Thermaltake Big Typhoon 4 in 1 Heatpipe any good ?
