Putting a cheapish spec together, and want to double check that these items will work ok together. I think they will but want to make sure. Also will I be able to get the CPU to 4GHz with this board?

Are you using a dedicated graphics card? Motherboard isn't very good at all. If overclocking you'll need an aftermarket cooler too. What's the system to be used for?

One thing you need to note about Gigabyte Z68 board is that...they don't have video output connection!

So if you were getting a Z68 board with the plan of using the intergrated HD3000 graphic, you need to look at other brand boards...

Thanks guys, its only for gaming and web browsing and yes my mate will be using a graphics card.

I chose the board as he is on a budget and this seemed about the cheapest Z68

That board is an unknown commodity so far, and as such I'd be tempted to go for one of MSI's P67 boards, which are known good overclockers.

My other key recommendations would be an aftermarket cooler (Hyper 212 Plus or Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro Rev 2 are just £20 and they're all you need), and a better PSU.

I chose this PSU as Stulid recommended it in an earlier build thread i did.

IS the stock cooler ok for a mild overclock, only reason i ask is because he is on a budget so rather nto spend his hard earned if no need

Personally I would try to look around for the cheapest MSI P67A-GD53.

It got decent gaming performance, and support Crossfire and SLI. The limitation is probably that it only got two USB3.0 and two SATA 3.0 ports.
