Will they do any more GTX cards?

I got to thinking about how popular the 16 series were for Nvidia and wondered if Nvidia might return for more. The thing is the 16 series only really existed because the R in RTX was so expensive, but with the 30 series prices are looking more in line with the older generations and there might not be the need for a range without raytracing to provide budget options. What do people reckon?

Will we see GTX26?

Will it depend on what AMD do at the cheap end of the market?

I think it all depends on what new 30 series cards are in the pipeline. The RTX 3060 is priced well above the budget sector, and if they are not careful it could all get a bit depressing at the lower end of the market with minimal progress being made.

Arguably what should be happening is cards like the RTX2070 being cut in price to fill out the mid-range price point a bit with the RTX2060 dropping to budget segment, but I doubt it will happen.

Yeah, they could possibly do a 'refreshed' 20 series lineup for the budget market, providing they can get costs down enough. But with the Turing RTX cards having been so expensive in the first place they might be better off doing new budget cards within Ampere maybe 3050s or even a 3040 SKU, or else do a similar raytracing-less variant of Ampere.

Will be interesting to see, since that's the sector that really provides the bread and butter for both AMD and Nvidia.
