Will this be a good reservoir choice?

Hey,

Basically, I want to change my reservoir one to a more subtle choice. Atm its the stock one, but it makes a loud trickling sound with the water from the pump, and takes up a 5.5" bay which I want to use.

I saw a "Repack-cooling Mini Slot-In 3,5" UV No Connectors" which looks perfect. Fits in the 3.5" bay and shouldn't have any trickling, right? I'm not sure how these are set up so could someone tell me how it would perform? I'm not bothered about capacity so this looks ideal.

Cheers,
Matt

I found this as well: "Swiftech MCRES-MICRO Hi-Flo Reservoir", but it says only for 1/2" or 3/8" tubing, I take it if i buy 1/4" thread barbs i can run different tubing?

Have a look at the Danger Den stuff too, but before you do, the trickling sound could be a lack of water in the system. Top it up if you can.

Trickling noises can come from not enough water (put more in) or bad design of the res. Try putting a small piece of sponge *near* the inlet.

ye i used to get a really annoying trickling noise. I put like another 50ml of mixed up liquid in and it solved the issue. Thats what it'll be.

No its bad res design i know it is. even tho i'm new to water cooling, i just know :P i cant top it up more because the cap overflows, but the inlet is too high. So I need a replacement which will free up the 5 1/4" bay... will a 3.5" bay res be sufficient?

The size of the res is irrelevant to the cooling of the system unless we're talking bath size or something. What res do you have anyways? Did you try the sponge trick?

I have a thermaltake one, but the thing is i need to free up the bay it's in... My only option is to put it in a custom bracket at the bottom of the case, and I would still have the 6.4mm ID tubing :/ I think the best option is a cheap(ish) alternative then flog the one I have. If the size of the res doesn't matter too much then that's good =)

Hehe looks like a bit of pressure here... I know nothing about T-lines exept that you use them to fill/bleed the system. I'm worried about them though, because knowing me it would leak or something... I feel safer with a reservoir!

Why would a T leak any more than a res? It has connectors, the tube goes on, it gets clamped, no leak! The open end is vertical. How's it going to leak. And if you're worried get a fill-port or just stick an AA battery in the end.

OK I just ordered a T-link connector. So all I need to do is put it in with a vertical tube yea? Does it matter how long that tube is and where I put the T?

That is an option yea, but the top of my case is riveted on, could I drill out the rivets and replace them with screws to make it easier to drill the hole for the fillport? Looks like T-lines take a lot longer to bleed as well, but hey, the connector cost a few quid and the fillport is under a tenner so screw reservoirs!

got another noob question: will the Danger Den fill port have a standard thread size for the barb attachment? I need to fit a 10mm hose barb to it...

My T bleeds in just a few minutes, is incredibly easy to fill and cost almost nothing.

Has a barb that connects to 1/2 inch hose.
