The Gigabyte board which Rev do you have, as Rev 1.0 & 2.0 appears not to support the new E8xxx range but version 3.3 does non-officialy with latest BIOS.

The boards which have been posted above have been popular on these forums.

the 965 DS3 isnt the best tbh. Replacing mine with an IP35 when I can muster up some CBA and get on with rebuilding my pc.

Crossfire is ATI's multi graphics card solution that works with Intel Chipset mobos and ATI cards.

SLI is nVidias multi graphics card solution that works with nVidia Chipset mobos and nVidia cards.

Yes you can, you just wouldn't be able to put in a second card at the same time, which isn't too bad tbh because most people tend to think Sli/Crossfire is too buggy for use anyway.

As far as I know, the 9800 series is essentially a revamp of the 8800 series so that upgrade would be pretty pointless tbh. Either drop a little more money (Radeon 4870/GTX260 or 280) or wait and save.
