Will this be overkill?

Just wondering if adding another fan to the side of my rig to help cool the GFX card would be slightly overkill?

Basically i got the new Zalman cooler for it at the weekend, however i like it when it runs nice and silent @ 5v, but its made my case temps go up by a little bit, making my idle temp go from 35 - 40.

Ok so as for the cooling of the gfx card, with the fan being on 5v load temps on the card reach almost 80 degrees when playing bf2142. Hence why i want to add another fan on the side.

Another option could be to add a blow hole onto the top of the case to allow more hot air to be removed.

Would this be overkill and am i just screeming over nothing and these temps are ok?

It would do a good job, but there are better ways! Rather than throw even more air at the problem, think about shaping the flow of the air - what you want is one uniform stream cooling all your components and getting through as quickly and efficiently as possible - if you don't have the time/patients to do some ducting, then there are a couple of options.

1. Clear the clutter and have a couple of good 120's at the front and a couple more at the back and have a good powerful stream straight through

2. Split the airflow: Have the front to back, but for the GFX have a cross flow as well - Divide your case so the air comes in through the side and out the back without mixing with the rest (even a bit of cardboard would do it, but neoprene is best!

What exhaust fans have you got in the system? If you have too many fans pulling air in, and not enough pulling air out then hot air will tend to accumulate

I tend to find that one consistant flow helps, although blowholes at the top seem to help get rid of a lot of hot air that may be just floating around in the case, also depending on how hot your psu is and which way it sends air a blowhole could help cut out this problem. Currently my psu is dumping a lot of hot air in my system so I may have to do a bit of cutting after my christmas upgrade if the new psu does the same. Your case doesn't seem to have a very obvious front intake either, side fans can help a lot, putting one next to your graphics card would help, or maybe (this is going out on a whym as to whether it would help or not) you could place a fan internaly to help circulate the air better and aim it on your gfx card a bit.
