Just a quickie.

Decided to have a go at overclocking my comp again, just messing in the bios and so far i have managed to get my GEIL Value Ram upto 229Mhz at 2.5CAS:Latency. (Reported by CPU-Z). I am running a warranty safe amount of volts through em, 2.8v i think.

My only question is, Will it be ok me running the ram at such a high frequency?
Dont want to burn it out or anything.

Have just managed to get 241Mhz out of it still at 2.5 Cas. Managed to push comp upto a comfy 2.9Ghz, no problems at all either.

Last time i had problems taking cpu so high, maybe the ram is helping now?
No idea :S hehe

Any feedback more than welcome :D

Voltage + temp is the main killer.

Overclocking with just FSB + timings will not damage them at all, or a very very very very small amount, like 2 weeks off there 5 year life :p

Oh brilliant :D. So do i now need to worry about the temperature of the ram sticks or just the cpu in relation to the overclocks?

I doubt Ram life will be shortened at all by fsb and timings, only way i see is voltage but if its in warranty period i doubt itll shorten life, also if u cant push more out of ram loosen the timings to 3-4-4-8, might push more mhz out of it then...

Do some stability tests for your overclock the blend test of prime 95 is a very good test for ram leave it for 6 h or more testing and if it wont stop by itself u can be sure of a stable ram overclock
