My i3 overclocked to 4.40ghz bundle comes today and I'm taking it down to a PC repair shop to be fitted into a new case.

Just wondering if this will work.

Using the i3,
Mobo,
Ram,
Cooling that comes in the bundle

My old HDD
9800 GT 1gb
PSU
Anything else needed from old build.

Will that all fit together and work? I'm going to upgrade the card/HDD at xmas.

Does your old HDD use an IDE or SATA connection.
And if it does use IDE, does your new motherboard support that?

Your graphics card should be fine. What is the wattage of your old PSU?

When you update your gfx card you will probably want to think of getting rid of that generic PSU, it will only cause you problems in the future.

Good idea to think about replacing the psu. Worth investing in something with real quality that will last years. What power rating is the PSU?

PS what GTX460 are you thinking about getting?

Really not sure aha i tried looking once.

1GB version of the GTX, but my case is rather small so idk if it will fit.

I reckon the PSU won't allow the board to be stable with that overclock, guessing it will have pretty horrible ripple. Prepare to load up the default profile, then you can always apply it again when you get a better PSU, either way you will probably should load test the machine when its together, and see if I crashes..

Well the guy said if my current build is fineit should work with the i3 as the i3 requires low juice?

Not sure at 4.4 GHz it requires low juice though, also needs a stable supply of power.. Just see how it goes and be prepared, pretty good deal on a top PSU in today only.

Also, why are you taking it to a repair shop? :D

Switching cases is really straight forward, you shouldn't even need to take the cpu/heatsink and ram out.

New bundle + case I think, still should do it himself, easy peasy, don't forget the stand offs, and remember there are two power sockets on the board.

Its lego.. spend saving on upgrading 460 -> 470 or part towards a better PSU

You could always try moving your old gear to the new case for practice, then if anything goes wrong which is highly unlikely its doesn't matter so much.

Good skill to learn.
