Hello guys

I recently went on a spending spree.

I just bought a i5-2500k
Asrock Z68 pro-3m (mATX)
8gb of Corsair XMS 3 Ram.

I also have a OCZ Vendetta 2 CPU cooler lying around, it was bought for my old PC but was too tall for the case. I would like to use this cooler with my new MB, as the asrock has mounting holes for 775 coolers also.

The OCZ Vendetta 2 is approx 15.9 CM High, from base to the tip of the copper pipe.

The case I would like to buy (Coolermaster Elite 342) is 18cm wide, while my old mATX case is 16cm wide.

I would like to buy this case providing the Vendetta would fit, if not can I have a recommendation for either an mATX case that is wide enough, or an ATX case that is also wide enough but also supports mATX boards.

I am looking for a cheap case, same kind of price as the coolermaster elite 342.

Many Thanks in advance.:D

From the Cooler Master Elite 342 manual:

1. CPU cooler installation:

Please ensure that your CPU-cooler does NOT exceed 5.8-inch (148mm) height, it will cause damage to the side panel of the case and the CPU cooler.

So the answer is that it won't fit.

Thanks for the swift answer.

Do you have any other suggestions for a budget case that will allow enough room for this cooler?

Many thanks

Edit I checked CM site, did not think to check the PDF's. I will see how the other Cases stack up.

Thanks.

I just checked the CM site, and the elite 430 can take a heatsink upto 16.3cm. I see one on ebay here for 45 euro + shipping. (I live in Italy)

Cheers, I would have bought from overclockers but am not based inb the UK so all of my purchases have been from trusted ebay sellers as I do not know any of the Italian online retailers.

I ended up purchasing the elite 430 for 51 euro, so not a bad deal.

I will post up my build when I get all of the parts.

Thanks
