Calling to all Dyson cylinder hoover users. I had a terrible time finding a turbo head for my henry that lasts longer then 5minutes, must have had 5-6 in the last 6months and they all have broken.

So next I'll give a dyson head ago but Im not sure if it will fit. So if you have one of these heads can you tell me the tube diameter please...

Not as is. Maybe if you butcher it but even then I doubt it.

I've got one, I'll measure it when I get home.

Had my Henry for a couple of years, never had an issue it's got metal plating on it - how exactly is it breaking?

Your talking about the standard on that comes with henry? We have pets and that brush is totally useless for pet hair.

First4Spares Red Airo Turbo Brush Floor Tool For Numatic Henry Vacuum Cleaners

Search for it in the rain forest.

They do last but suck too hard to the carpet, causing the brush to stop spinning.

Yeah Im thinking of getting the brush and those adaptor things and keeping my fingers crossed that it will fit.

I just dont know why these turbo brushes don't last more then a month, before a wheel drops off, a blade snaps off or the belt gives up. I really dont know what other brush I can buy, if this dyson brush doesn't fit or breaks within a few weeks. I was thinking to buy a £200+ hoover that has a motorised brush. But spending that sort of money on a hoover, just for the brush is stupid, dont you think?

Haha, it might just fit, I have found this review of the brush ...........

"Does exactly what it is suppose to do, operates perfectly with a large Molineax wet/dry hoover (in the dry mode) and a Henry Hoover too, very good at picking up stubborn hairs on sofas and chairs"

Ummmm please, please

Also someone had one and it lasted 4yrs... Time will tell I guess.

I wonder if this type of head would keep spinning better than the small turbo head that came with my Hoover??

It spins up amazingly but when you put it in contact with a surface to clean it and hopefully brush it, it stalls the brush and you have to lift it off the surface to get it spinning again which completely defeats the point of the turbo head...

I have a small dyson brush for the stairs and that is useless because as you say as soon as it makes contact with the carpet it stops. This is what put me off from buying the air driven brushes and up to about 2yrs ago I been struggling with the standard henry brush with the pet hair, going over the same place on the carpet 10 times.

If I knew what I know now I would have bought a spinning brush years ago, but I thought as soon as they hit the carpet the brush would stop and to be honest the original henry airo spinning brush I bought wasn't that great, because it sucked too hard to the carpet causing the brush to slow right down and it was hard work to push, but still it was like 10times faster at getting all the hairs up then the original henry brush.

The last 2 spinning brushes were brilliant, as the brushes didnt suck too hard to the carpet making pushing the brush so easy and the brush span real fast too making the pick up of the hair so much faster. But they only lasted a few weeks before they broke.. These are the 2 heads, and as you can see there both very similar but the brush is supported better in the 2nd picture.

But the design on these air driven brushes are stupid because they all use like flywheels to make the brushes spin and they all use plastic wheels. All the dirt has to pass this wheel, so you cant pick up much larger then a cat biscuit or it jams the wheel and if you pick up something real hard, the blades can break off the flywheel. This is what happened with the last one I sent back. So if I can get the dyson brush to fit, I am hopeing the design and flywheel will be stronger and better.

Was having a brain spaz when I posted earlier, mine isn't a hoover, it's a vax and the turbo head is this one:

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Vax-Genuine...qid=1431014107&sr=8-4&keywords=vax+turbo+head

It sounds like it'll do a good job but as soon as you put it on anything the brush stalls. The ones you've posted look a lot better! I'll be very interested to hear how you get on with it.

Of course I could just go and get an upright vacuum which would solve the problem straight away....lol

These turbo large brushes on cylinder hoovers are suppose to work as well as upright hoovers. but in my personal opinion they do not because of 4 things... All are made out of shoddy plastic, the design are just thrown together, the flywheels should at least be made out of something stronger then plastic!! and you need quite a good sucking hoover to keep the brush spinning while on a carpet

Like this one I just sent back, it was vibrating from the first time I used it and the more I used it the vibrating got louder and louder as everything was getting loose inside. So I took it apart and put some sponge on both ends of the spinning brush and that fixed the vibrating instantly. But then the following day a blade snapped off the flywheel, I was gutted because I had made it so much quieter:mad:

Yeah a upright would solve all my probs, but because I am in a wheelchair I cant use a upright.

Crap sorry mate, I thought we had a spinny head for the large Dyson but we've only got one for a handheld one. This would be of no use to you though as it has its own motor built in.

I spoke to dyson yesterday but they wasn't any help at all, they wouldnt tell me anything because I wasn't using the head with their vacuum cleaners.

I think I am going to try this head as its newer then that other head, and just hope and pray it fits without any adaptors as its £50. I could buy a new hoover for £50, not a very good one I grant you, but still:eek:

Try a Miele turbo head.

Yeah I was thinking about a miele brush but I know that they fit a 35mm tube, not 32mm and they dont look a lot better then the henry turbo brushes

Well I have ordered it, so I am keeping everything crossed that it will fit, If it fits I think I'll turn the suction down on my henry to try and avoid any blades being broken off.

Im not suprised that dyson wouldnt help you really. And as someone that has had dyson`s vax and others you would be suprised at some of the vacuums you can actually get for under £50. The one i have currently is a hoover upright, it came from asda and cost just £40. It is far far more powerfull than many of the others i have owned including a henry and it obliterates the 200+ dyson i owned. I have yet to see a better hoover especially since it was just £40.

Well my henry, is quite dam strong because all the henry's you see now are the energy saving rubbish, so there not as powerful as the older henry's. Plus I have change from using paper bags to these Hepa-flo cloth bags that enhances the suction more.

I really dont know why we have bagless vacuum cleaners, yeah dysons are ok bagless because they dont have filters in the dirt containers. But normal bagless vacuum cleaners are useless because the the filter in the dirt container gets clogged up far too quickly, killing the suction a awful lot.. With bagged vacuum cleaners the bag is the filter basically and they dont really get clogged up with dust until there more or less ready to change.

Anyway Im really hoping this brush will fit without having to buy adaptors and wotnot for it
